Luke 24:36-53
The resurrection of Jesus is like His manifesto - His presentation of the world that will be when He is ruler of it all. Jesus is standing before the disciples as a picture of what is to come - what things will be like on that glorious day.
Luke makes the point really clear - Jesus was physically there in the room with them. His scars were wounds that signified victory over death. Jesus is alive physically.
Yet what He said doesn't seem much like a manifesto...
"What is there to eat?"
Yet again, Luke draws the attention of the reader to Jesus' physical resurrection. What is happening here? Who is Jesus? He is physical, yet He seems much more. He is "superphysical". It is like in His physicality He blurs the line between Heaven and Earth. Herein lies the manifesto - there is a major difference between Jesus' resurrection and those whom He raised earlier. There is a permanence. This is what life will be like for all those who have Jesus in them on that day when He returns.
The response Jesus wanted (and still wants) for His disciples was to be witnesses. It's that simple - they had seen Jesus and would tell others what they had seen. So we should do the same. We should do that until that New Creation that Jesus' body was a part of becomes a reality for us. When God does what He promised to do and Jesus is Lord of all. That means good news for all of creation.
