Cultivating a life of Worship
In Romans 12:1-2 Paul talks about true & proper worship.
What is true and proper worship?
We can have many intentions when it comes to our faith. Often in the moment it counts we can push God aside. True worship is putting God first & sacrificing everything to Him.This is done not our of choice but a essential response to God's mercy. The only proper way to worship is to understand exactly what that means and then the only natural response is sacrificial worship. Our prayer life should begin with knowing the truth of the cross. Knowing the price should cause worship to appear in our entire lives.
What does worship look like?
In Romans Paul was calling followers of Christ to be different than the world around us. Such is worship in current times. We are to avoid falling into the pattern of the world.
Busyness & Rest
This world demands our attention and busyness. In order to worship in a world like this we must rest and submit ourselves to God in quiet. We cannot worship if we are burned out. In response to God's mercy we should give up our time to Him - to show Him we trust that it's not our activity that is our offering to Him.
The joy worship brings
To worship is to soak ourselves in God's word. In order to experience joy in communication with God we must know Him. To know Him we must read the Bible.
Persistently going to God in joy or suffering will make the rest of our life a life of worship. What God has done outweighs anything we can ever bring to Him and so to worship Him is to bask in that truth and the Spirit will naturally bring us to a response of worship.
